Capability sans Controllability is something I learnt in therapy.
To add context to the conversation:
Me: ~ ranting on about how I am so frustrated with myself for not being capable of anything at all in life right now ~
Her: Is it your lack of capability or your lack of controllability?
Me (instantly): It is my lack of capability because whatever whatever whatever ….
Me (later): Okay.

P.S.: This is not a therapy session and no one insightful question can set everything back on track in life. However, I do believe that sometimes, all we need is to talk through the storms of thoughts in our head with someone willing to simply listen and ask the right questions, not to give advice and definitely not to share what else we could have done or what they would have done in our place.
I am sharing this little excerpt of the conversation just in case someone needs to hear this very question-to-self today and feel a little less anxious about the messy uncertainties of life.
You are capable enough. In case, no one else makes you feel that way, you are deserving and worthy of every aspiration and life goal you envision.
Can you ensure its accomplishment and the exact way to the end with precision just how you want it to be? No. And, you don’t need to either.
Can you keep putting in your best efforts through every phase of the journey? Yes. And, that’s all that matters. Even when your best looks different every day. Even when your best gets misunderstood as the bare minimum by those who don’t know your life enough.
The world exists to question your worth so you don’t have to. Give yourself grace.
