Terror Strikes. Faith Remains.

Terror, terror everywhere.

Not a God to spare.

But then God doesn’t claim His Godliness.

And I wonder if God even knows that (S)He is designated “God”.

It’s humans, mere mortals.

You and Me. Us.

Who define God, Godliness, and the thousand ways to attain salvation just right.

The slightest misstep and life –

– the fundamental gift from that same God –

Bleeds into a curse.

The curse of being different.

The curse of not being the right kind of same.

The curse of being brave.

The curse of not being scared enough.

The curse of not being the right shape, size or colour.

The curse of a different name.

And yet it’s often mused with love,

“What’s there in a name?”

Yesterday, there was death.

Not for the first time.

Will not be for the last either.

But then, you see, too much like you,

And you’d kill to prove who’s more worthy of the likeness too.

Killing is your sport.

Living remains ours.

Living with respect.

Living in compassion.

Living in solidarity.

Living

In faith.

Not exactly your kind of faith.

Not the faith that guns down a life in search of a soul to burn.

The kind of faith that breathes life into a soul.

The kind of faith that keeps alive the dreams and wishes of the life departed.

Faith that gives life to every breath.

You’d kill in the name of faith.

You’d cut through lives frantically searching for humanity to bury without a name.

Yet, humanity remains.

Humanity remains.

Nameless.

And Unscathed.

In thoughts, writings, memories, and words.

In love and laughter.

In tears and longing.

In hope, grief and despair alike.

In faith.

You see,

Faith and Fear.

Both require you to believe in the unknown.

You have chosen your unknown.

And we have chosen ours.

Your unknown calls for chaos.

Ours call for peace.

Your unknown calls for slaughtering the different.

Ours call for celebrating difference.

Your unknown calls for terror.

Ours call for kind faith.

And in all the talks and tactics between terror and faith.

The green and blue get tainted in scarlet.

The scarlet of the sunset at the horizon of faith.

For the sun must set even to rise again.

At the horizon.

.. of Faith ..
