Faith in Yourself Won’t Let You Fake It
Personally, I have always hated the “Fake It Till You Make It” advice. In my mind, authenticity , and most importantly, not being shamed for our not-the-best phases and not being rejected through our learning-a-craft-process are way too valuable characteristics of a humane community.
If we have to fake it to feel accepted, are even accepted in the true sense of it?
The journey is meant to be messy and imperfect with failures and mistakes and little wins. The other day, I read this quote on instagram : “Faith It Till You Make It.” And it makes so much sense! This simple shift in perspective is not just inspiring – it’s empowering. It’s about rooting yourself in belief and learning, not pretense. So, here’s my take on it.

3 Questions to Self : Nurturing Faith in Yourself
To truly “faith it till you make it,” ask yourself these three questions:
- Are you doing all you can with all you know and have at this moment? We are all operating within the limits of what we currently understand and possess. Acknowledging your efforts, even if they feel small, is the first step toward building authentic confidence.
- Are you open to course-correcting as and when needed? Life is rarely a straight path. Being willing to adjust, learn, and pivot when necessary is a hallmark of resilience. Faith in yourself isn’t about being rigid; it’s about trusting that you’ll figure things out as you go.
- Are you prepared to take responsibility for the impacts of your decisions and actions? Accountability is key to self-growth. When you own your choices and commit to making amends when necessary, you solidify your trust in yourself.
If you can answer YES to the above three questions, then you have E.V.E.R.Y. reason to nurture faith in yourself – enough to not feel the need to fake it at all.
Faith Over Fear : Always a Choice
Faith in yourself definitely does not take away your power to take accountability for your behaviour, to keep learning and growing personally and professionally. In fact, when you are free from the need to be perfectly acceptable, you can be real and amazing.
A little faith over fear can help you stay grounded through every challenge, build resilience, and allows you to become the best version of yourself that you want to offer to the world, over and above the bits and pieces people choose to see in you.
You are allowed to not fake it, only to be accepted by those who cannot support you through the messy journey of learning and failing, all the way to success.
